It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, in the Junction. Elves strolled along sidewalk getting everyone in the festive mood by handing out maps and hot chocolate coupons for the annual Santa in the Junction. Large candy canes guided visitors to the many venues offering holiday activities along Dundas Street West.
The theme of local and craft echoed the workshops. ARTiculations held a class on how to personalize your gift-wrapping paper. Families crowded around the station learning the proper way to ink the stamps and how to apply it to the surface. On a similar note, furniture store Smash showcased the art of silk screening and how it can be applied to many different surfaces to create a cohesive motif. At Above Ground, the elves were busy creating many customized ornaments decorating them with glitter and paint.
At the DUKE presentation centre, we dressed our storefront with Christmas icons such as a reindeer, ornaments, and a couple inches of snow. Visitors were offered hot cider and DUKE gingerbread men and women. For those into contests, a lucky individual went home with our gingerbread DUKE condo created by Madeleines bakery. And Emily T won a $50 brunch to Cool Hand of a Girl for participating in our social media contest on Junction storefronts.
Thanks to our project partners, the Junction BIA , Bunners and Jayne’s Gourmet for making this event great.
