Help FoodShare get to the Farmers Market

Last year I learned about FoodShare’s School Grown Program which hires high school students to work full time paid positions as schoolyard farmers over the summer. The program is truly amazing, providing youth with the opportunity to learn about growing food, and sell the produce at local farmers markets and restaurants.

Unfortunately, School Grown’s trusty cargo van was in an accident over the winter. Fortunately everyone is okay, but they are now in need of a way to bring the schoolyard farm produce to market and to restaurants.

Through an Indiegogo Campaign, School Grown is raising funds to purchase a used, fuel-efficient vehicle, plus a cargo bike. They need to raise funds for a new vehicle by the time their first markets start in early June.

Here are the ways you can help:

1. Share information about the campaign with friends, family, neighbours, email lists, networks. Email referrals are best, but social media is great too!

2. Use the Indiegogo share tools on the page and leave a nice comment. (This helps with the IndieGoGo ranking system).

3. Chip in! School Grown has a great selection of perks for donations ranging from $5 and up!

Best of luck, FoodShare! We can’t wait to see you at the markets this summer!
