It Takes A Village

Back in the 1960s, Marshall McLuhan talked about the “global village”—a conceptual shrinking of the world as a result of advances in telecommunications. Today we see this reality every single day.

We get into a crowded elevator and everyone is texting or tuned into their mobile phones, oblivious to each other’s presence. Instead of providing us with the advantages of a village, modern telecommunication has isolated us, turned us away from our neighbours. We text instead of talk. We listen instead of converse. We passively watch instead of participate.

TAS is aiming to change this reality with The Keeley, a people-centric condominium building designed to be its own village; where neighbours become friends, and where people of all ages and life stages can live together in a connected, harmonious, and beautiful environment.

The Keeley, with its emphasis on communal gathering spaces, reinforces a sense of belonging. The greeting of neighbours, the swapping of stories, and the sharing of the latest news weaves everyone into the human fabric of this groundbreaking community.

The Keeley shares all the style and panache of its downtown cousins. This all-brick structure with floor-to-ceiling windows embodies chic, cutting-edge design, as comfortable at Yonge and Bloor as it will be at Keele and Downsview Park. But what separates The Keeley is its inclusion of meaningful community spaces designed for the people who will live here.

At TAS, we are strong believers in our role as high quality city builders; our mandate is to build outstanding homes for people with real lives and real aspirations. This is the foundation upon which The Keeley will be built. To this end, we have created a building that dedicates an extraordinary amount of space to building amenities which go far beyond the expected.

At ground level, a welcoming lobby with helpful concierge services, a friendly café serving ethically-sourced coffees and teas, a peaceful library with loads of seating and room to study and work. There’s a beautifully outfitted media room with a big screen TV and seating. There’s a child-friendly family lounge and a separate ‘adult lounge’ for meeting and greeting. Smart planning includes a dog wash/mudroom located close to the elevators and a fully equipped gym. But that’s just the beginning.

If you’re a teacher, there are spaces for you to tutor. If you’re a card player, there are spaces for playing. If you’re a reader, there are spaces where you can sit quietly and read. If you’re a parent, there are spaces where your children can play. Even the stairwells at The Keeley will be programmed for residents’ use. It’s a building that is whole-use designed.

Positioned outside the main level is a lushly landscaped central courtyard, bridging the outside with the inside. Here, within a friendly, comfortable atmosphere, residents can gather together and watch their children enjoy an imaginative playground; sit and schmooze, walk their dogs, get to know each other. The Courtyard is an extension of The Keeley’s incredible park location sandwiched between Downsview Park and an extraordinary network of hidden ravines at the rear of the building.

On the 7th floor, a visionary terrace is in the planning stages. The terrace includes an area for residents to garden in agricultural planters, relax in comfortable lounge areas, catch some rays on the sun deck, and enjoy the outdoor fireplace, BBQs and dining area with friends and family.

This development is undoubtedly going to change the face of uptown North York in ways that transcend its physical beauty. The Keeley is a new opportunity to live a connected life; connected to your friends and neighbours, connected to your family, connected to extraordinary parks and ravines, to the new subway extension, and uniquely connected to building amenities that have been designed for real people who will be proud to call The Keeley home.

We hope you will become a part of it.

Zoning for The Keeley has been approved and it’s full steam ahead. Please stay tuned for updates.
